Kodikuthimala literally means flag hoisted hill, named so after the British hoisted a flag on the peak of the hill during a survey of the place.

Ten kilometres from Perinthalmanna town is Kodikuthimala, the highest peak in the Amminikadan hills of the Western Ghats. Windy and cool, Kodikuthimala is surrounded by springs, valleys, grasslands and forest. It is also called the ‘Ooty of Malappuram’ due to its climate and scenic vistas. Visit in the evening hours to be rewarded with a refreshing walk and a view of the sunset. Kodikuthimala literally means ‘flag hoisted hill’, named so after the British hoisted a flag on the peak of the hill during a survey of the place. A watch tower was also built where the flag was hoisted. The tower and a spot called ‘Suicide Point’ are the major attractions. The hilltop offers a view of the entire expanse of Perinthalmanna town and nearby areas.
